Sights and Attractions in Västmanland: WestHammarmossen2 km south-west of Hällefors, north of road 63. Nature reserve with approximately 200 geologically interesting pools. Elk are often seen on the peat-moss and small-divers nest on the edges of the pools.Konunga-Stollen15 km north-west of Nora in Klacka-Lerberg. Stollen, which is German for mine-shaft, was mined for the first time in the 18th century in order to lead water away from the mine that was situated above. The main shaft, which reaches 270 metres horizontally into the mountain, ends up in a large cavern. The cavern has a large collection of minerals and mining equipment. The mine is open to tourists during the summer and is well worth a visit. In the valley, which is dominated by deciduous forest, the river still flows along its original course and has long stretches of rapids despite the fact that the production of iron has left its marks on the landscape. There are marked trails, rest-areas and parking places. the animal life is plentiful including beavers, kingfishers and deer.Loka brunn15 km south-west of Grythyttan. The well was probably first used as early as the 17th century as a health-spa by the local population. However, the actual spa was not opened until circa 1720. Some buildings from the 18th century are still standing. Among them are for example Alkvettern, Kungsköket, Prästgården and Kungsbyggnaden. The spa is famous for its mudbaths which have now been supplemented by a number of modern rehabilitory methods. Phone: 0591-631 00.NoraNora became a town in the 17th century but had been a trading centre since the 14th century. Today some old wooden buildings remain in the centre of the old town. One old building well worth seeing is "Göthlinska Gården" at the town square, which is a burgess house from the turn of the century. It has been refurbished into a museum. Another museum in Nora is the railway museum. This museum is what remains of the railway between Nora and Örebro which was used to transport iron-ore. The smelting-house and the blast furnace are preserved in their original condition and guided tours are available all through the summer.
